March 29th – April 4th

By now, almost all of Oxfam GB’s content on Facebook is centered around the Coronavirus. This is a very short and simple post with a video quickly explaining what the money their Facebook Fundraiser is going toward, such as providing sanitizing equipment and fresh water and hand soap to refugee camps. Fundraisers often do very well on Facebook, because the audience on Facebook tends to be older and more inclined to be moved by heartfelt posts and have the means to donate. I like this post because it gets right to the point without presenting themselves as a ‘generous giver in this time of need and they are so much better than everyone.’

This a retweet by the Oxfam GB account of another Oxfam branch, the Middle East and North America branch. I like this tweet a lot though, because it highlights an issue about COVID-19 that many people might overlook. It highlights the work that Oxfam is doing in Jordan to protect women against domestic violence during this quarantine period. It uses smart hashtags like #COVID19, #stayhome, and #metoo.
