As you can tell by the fact that I had to insert three screenshots into this blog, this post by Oxfam GB was unnecessarily long for Instagram. Instead of including four paragraphs of text in the caption, the could condense the information and context around the locust swarms in Kenya into easy to read infographics to include in the image reel. Despite this, they use a very impactful image that catches the viewers attention, but takes a second to realize what is actually happening. It’s a very timely post, and informative to those who might not realize this awful drought is going on, and a result of climate change. The hashtags at the end, as always, help spread awareness, except I’m not sure how many people are actively keeping up with #Locusts. Similar to their Facebook page, on this post Oxfam GB is responding to comments with even more information to people who inquire.
